Grace Madeline Is Here

Yesterday, Tom and I went to the casino for one last night out on the town before our scheduled induction on Monday, March 7th. We were about ready to leave, when I started to have contractions. I didn't think too much of it, since I had been having them randomly this past week.

All that changed when I had about 3 in a row about 7 minutes apart. We decided that we should probably head home just in case. By the time we got home (at 10:00) I quickly took a shower and by the time I got out they were pretty strong and coming between every 5 or 6 minutes. So we rushed to finish packing (yes- I thought I had more time) and then left our house at about 10:45.

It takes about 10 minutes to get to the hospital from our house and once we walked in the door they were coming every 5 minutes and VERY STRONG.

They put us in a room to see how far along things were (I think they didn't think I would need to stay since they had already sent home 3 others right before me) and I was already dilated to a 5 or 6 and was 90% effaced. After about 30 minutes, I was in a little pain because they were coming so often. I signed all the forms and they called in the anesthesiologist. I was never happier to see someone walking through the door!

He gave me the epidural and once it kicked in they checked me again and I was already dilated to an 9. The doctor on call from Craig Ranch Ob-Gyn (who was GREAT) showed up to break my  water and I'm not kidding - about 15 minutes later I was ready to start pushing. After about 3 or 4 pushes, Grace was here! The whole process from when we checked in didn't even last 3 1/2 hours.

Grace Madeline Rennie was born at 2:21 a.m on March 6th. She weighed 7 lb. and 8 oz. and is 19 1/2 in. She has a HEAD full of black hair as you can see from the pictures.

 Happy Mommy!

  2. I am so proud and impressed that you're blogging, crazy mama! And I'm loving all the pictures. Grace is such a cutie -- and I just cannot get over that DARK hair!

It looks like Grace could be your mini-me (which is only fair since Tommy looks just like his daddy)!

Love you! Can't wait to hold her!
