Hawaiian Falls & Fireside Pies

We had a very busy day.

First thing this morning, Jocelyn and I took the boys to the McKinney Farmer's Market. It was pretty nice (and my first time to go to one). We didn't get much (squash for me and okra for Jocelyn).

After we left there, we headed out to The Colony to take the boys swimming at Hawaiian Falls. Other than a rocky start (I think the water was too cold for Tommy at first), Tommy had a lot of fun sitting in the water and riding in a tube with mommy around the lazy river. We must have gone around it 10 times (5 of those times because the boys were sleeping). We stayed at the water park for about 4 hours. Tommy does have a little sunburn on his arms, but other than that - he's good.

Jocelyn wanted to try Fireside Pies for dinner, so we headed over there around 6:00. We had a great time, we both realized that it's a lot of work taking care of our boys with out a second person to help out. I probably bent down to get the stuff Tommy would toss down AT LEAST 20 times. I guess it is good excercise.

1 Year Doctor Visit

Yesterday we took Tommy in for his 1 year checkup. The doctor said that everything looked great. Tommy did have to get 2 shots and he wasn't too happy about that, but once we gave him his ducky (they give him one at every visit) - he was fine.

Here are the stats from the visit:
  • Weight 24 lb. 15 oz. (78%)
  • Height 29.75 in. (47%)
  • Head 18.5 in. (67%)
Look at those chompers

Things about Tommy at 1 year old:

  • Has 8 teeth

  • Wears size 4 diapers

  • Wears 12 or 18 month pants (the 18 month are a little big) & 18 or 24 month shirts

  • Waves bye-bye all the time now (its so cute!)

  • Only drinks whole milk - no more formula

  • Only eats baby food in the morning mixed with rice cereal (and sometimes fruit at dinnertime)

  • Loves fruit punch and apple juice

  • Getting better at trying new table foods (he still pushes some out with his tongue when he doesn't like them)

  • Will only eat some of the table foods if he can hold the fork, otherwise he will turn his head

  • Loves when daddy reads Goodnight Moon to him or when I read Touch and Feel Farm

  • Starting to take steps walking along furniture (crawling is still his favorite mode of transportation)

  • Will let go of the furniture and stand by himself with his hands in the air and a big smile on his face (he actually stood by himself for 5 seconds last night)

  • Loves to pet the dogs (sometimes he gets a little rough though)

  • Likes us to push him on his Little People car he got for his birthday

  • Grunts when he is excited about something or when he wants us to notice him

  • When I ask him "Where's Tommy?" - he'll go point to his picture on our end table

Tommy's 1st Pirates Game (vs. Texas Rangers)

Last night, the 3 of us headed out to the Ballpark in Arlington to watch the Texas Rangers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. Tom was excited to see the game, since the Pirates haven't been to area in over 5 years.

It was a pretty warm evening (when isn't it in Texas), but there was a nice breeze. We had a great view of the field from our 3rd base side seats. We figured out that it was going to be a long game when it took at least 30 minutes to finish the 1st inning.

At around 8:30 (an hour and a half into the game and only the 3rd inning), we decided to head up to the Diamond Club to cool off for a while. We could tell that Tommy was getting tired so we decided we would leave around 9:00 (which was only the 4th inning - geeze).

I know Tom was upset about the game, because the Pirates were getting trampled - and by the time we left - the score was 13-2. On the bright side.....at least it was Dollar Hot Dog night and Tommy had a blast. :)

Since Tommy already had his birthday party (and cake at daycare), we went out to dinner at Dave N Busters and then went over to the carousel. Tommy didn't know what to think at first, but I think that Tommy really enjoyed it (I could tell by his grunts). :)

Happy Birthday Tom-Tom. We love you!!!

1 Year Photos

We took Tommy in for his 1 year photos yesterday. Once again, Tommy did great and it was hard to narrow down the best ones. I've attached a few of my favorite pictures from Tommy's photo session yesterday..

And one for daddy

Goodnight Moon

The 3 of us have Tommy's bedtime routine down pat.

We head up to Tommy's room anywhere between 8:15 and 8:30 (depending on if its bath night). After his bath and brushing all his teeth, we put his lotion on followed by his jammies (with the feet). Then comes the fun part...we all sit on the floor (I'm including the dogs in this) watching Tommy crawl to get into everything he shouldn't be getting in.

When we mention the word "book" to him, he perks up and goes to get a book for us to read (he basically throws it at us, but it ends up falling right by his hand - haha). The book that Tom reads to Tommy every night is Goodnight Moon. Tommy really gets in to the book and even sits still in Tom's lap while he is reading it.

After Tom reads it 2 times, we ask Tommy if he is ready for bed, which is his cue to start crying, because he would rather hang out with his cool parents. We put him in bed; he cries a few minutes and then goes to sleep.
