Tommy's 1st Dentist Appointment

Last Wednesday, I took Tommy to Kid's Dental in Plano for his first dentist appointment.

The night before the appointment, we watched the short cartoon on their website showing what happens at the dentist and Tommy was excited and asking questions about it.

On the way to the appointment I could tell that he was getting a little nervous. Once we checked in, he cheered up after seeing the play area they have. He got to climb and slide for about 15 minutes before we were called back.

Fun in the play area

I'm so glad that we decided to take him to an actual kid dentist, because they thought of everything. Tommy got to pick out a movie (Toy Story 2) on the way back to his room. Let's just say after the movie started and the dental assistant came in, Tommy didn't want to be there anymore. He cried while she cleaned his teeth and used the pick.

He calmed down after she left and actually changed his attitude when the dentist came in. She was great and made him feel so at ease. He was actually talking to her about Halloween while she checked his teeth and put fluoride on them.

Another assistant took Tommy to get his treats and stickers so the dentist and I could talk. She said his teeth look good except for one in the very back. She thinks he will have to have a filling before that one ends up falling out (I guess it's a tooth you keep until you are 10 or 11).

Other than the breakdown in the middle - Tommy did a great job!

Big Orange Pumpkin Patch 2012

On our last Saturday in Texas, we spent most of the day hanging out with Chris, Chuck and Charlie.

We started out the day meeting them at Mimi's Cafe for breakfast. It was nice catching up and the boys had a great time playing (as much as they could at the table).

After breakfast, Tom and I headed to the outlets for a little "cold weather" shopping before heading to the apartment to change clothes and grab a few things for the pumpkin patch.

We got to the pumpkin patch a little after 12:30. The kids had fun feeding the animals - well I mean watching me feed the animals, going on the hay ride, playing/running around the pumpkins, eating lunch, running in the maze, climbing on the spider hay bale, riding the train and running around some more. Whew! It wore me out just typing that! It was a lot of fun and all the kids had fun and they always get along so well.

State Fair 2012

This past weekend, my parents came up for a visit and to make their 1st trip to the State Fair of Texas.

We got there shortly after they opened and the first thing we noticed, was that Grace spit up sometime on the way there. Yikes! It was bad enough that we didn't notice, but we also didn't have a spare outfit because the kids had been playing with the diaper bag earlier that week and pulled all the clothes out. Oops!

So we cleaned her up the best we could and headed inside. We headed to the Little Hands on the Farm area. The kids both really liked it and had fun riding the tractors around. They spent their "money" and we got them shirts (mainly so we could get Grace out of her stinky shirt).

After that, we hit up the barnyard area. The kids loved looking at all the animals and Tommy even fed a few of them.

We didn't really get any of the new fried food this year and instead opted for the traditional fair food.

Since we wanted to ride a couple rides and they were on the other side of the fair, we all rode the Sky Ride over. My parents kept the kids occupied while Tom and I rode one roller coaster (called the Crazy Mouse). It was crazy! Tommy ended up riding the monster trucks with Tom and the bumper cars with me. He was being a little wussy on the bumper cars and didn't want me to hit anyone - haha. Grace rode the little dolphin boats with me and she loved it.

Tommy got upset after this - I wasn't allowed to hit anyone

On the way home from the fair that afternoon, Grace had another accident. Poor baby - I don't know what was up with that.

Other than Grace being sick, we all had a great day at the fair.

Date Weekend

A couple weekends ago, my parents kept the kids and Tom and I made the most of it.

Friday night, Tom and I went to Choctaw for a little gambling. For the first time in a while, I actually won some money and covered most of Tom's loss - haha!

Saturday afternoon, we decided to go to Landon Winery in downtown McKinney for a little wine and some people watching. It was fun (and a little hot).

That night, Tom surprise me by taking me out to dinner at Silver Fox. Yum!

Great weekend.
