Tommy's 1st Hospital Visit

We had to get up bright and early this morning to take Tommy to the McKinney hospital for his tubes. I want to say since he was around 3 or 4 months old he has probably had 7 or 8 ear infections (maybe even more - you kind of lose count after the first few).

After this last ear infection that never went away with 2 different antibiotics - our primary doctor referred us to an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. We met with her last Wednesday and she said that he had infections in both ears and she recommended that we have tubes put in his ears. We trusted her judgement and scheduled the surgery for this morning.

I've been nervous since Wednesday and going in this morning I wanted to cry, but Tommy was such a happy baby this morning (other than a crying fit at 5:30 when he woke up). Considering the fact that he didn't have any food/formula since 8:30 last night he did a great job and didn't fuss one time at the hospital before the surgery.

I'm ready for the tubes..

I got my "brave" face on.

"Better get use to these bars, kid." - haha

They took him back around 7:35 and came to get one of us to go back to the recovery room at 7:45. She said he did great and he woke up crying about a minute after I got in the room. We was able to have some apple juice and then he went right back to sleep until we were released at around 8:45.

Tom and I both took off work today to be with him in case he was fussy, but the good news is that he was in normal self (other than the long naps he took - Tommy isn't usually a long napper). We even had a chance to go out to dinner with our friend Chris, from Pittsburgh, at Kenny's Burgers in Frisco.

We are so proud of our big boy and we hope this surgery prevents him from getting any more ear infections!

10 Month Pictures

Yesterday, we took Tommy in for his 10 month pictures. He did a great job even though it was nap time.

On a side note, Tommy has 1 more bottom tooth and his top 2 front teeth are coming in!

Ft. Worth Zoo

Yesterday, Tom and I took Tommy to the Ft. Worth Zoo. We had wanted to go last weekend, but it was rainy and windy so we had to postpone it. It couldn't have worked out any better...the weather was PERFECT yesterday.

I think we got there around 11:30 and left a little after 2:00. Tommy loved the zoo! What's funny is that he didn't really care too much about the animals (except the elephants, fish & the rhino), he much preferred people watching. It was so funny, because we would try to get him to look at the animals and right when he was turning his head to look, a kid would run up and Tommy would just stare them down. :)

After the zoo, we decided to have a late lunch at Joe T. Garcia's. Tom had never been there and I went one time years ago. It was okay, not the best Mexican food we've ever had, but we are glad we tried it.

How cute!

Keri's Baby Shower

After work on Friday, Bobbi, Valerie and I hosted a shower for our friend (and former co-worker) Keri and her husband Phil. Keri's due date is at the end of May. This will be her second boy - her other son, Josh, turns 16 this year.

Since most of the guests work with us, we held the shower at this local (any yummy) restaurant in Coppell called Guero's. Around 15 people showed up for the shower and we had a lot of fun talking and watching Keri (who is still tiny) open all her gifts. We had cupcakes from Candy Haven in Denton and cute "It's A Boy" plates and napkins.

I can't wait to meet her little guy!

I tried one of each flavor

I love these plates & napkins!

Keri should be stocked up on everything.

Hanging With the Team

This afternoon we took Tommy to an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. After discussing our options with the doctor, we decided the best course of action would be to have tubes put in his ears. I feel so bad for the little man - I think he's probably had 6 or 7 ear infection since he was born. The good thing is that he isn't fussy or anything, he just tugs at his ear.

To raise his spirits up, we decided to head to Lewisville to meet up with our softball team (and our friend Chris who is in town) for dinner. Tommy was super pumped to meet his new (girl) frield, Allison. They flirted with each other for a few minutes and decided to play hard to get from opposite ends of the table. I can't wait to see what happens the next time they are in the same room. :)

Dad, put your shoes on so we can go!

Hey Allison - I've been known to hit on younger women.

I'm done eating, lets pay the tab and go...

Great Grandma & Great-Aunt Mary Visit

Last night, Tommy's Great Grandma and her sister, Aunt Mary, came over for dinner and for Aunt Mary to meet baby Tommy.

Once we put the food in the oven to cook (Chicken Pot Pie) we sat around talking. Tommy had a lot of fun and would just stare at both of them when they talked - it was so cute watching his head turn back and forth!

Unfortunately, they didn't get to stay long becasue they wanted to be home before dark and they had to leave early this morning to drive down to Houston to visit Tom's cousin, Michael, and his children.

We loved visiting with them and Aunt Mary said she might even come back down for Tommy's 1st Birthday party in June.

Lets just say Tommy was NOT HAPPY when we told him they were leaving

Shower & A Dinner

Tommy and I had a very busy day. After playing together all morning and running a couple errands; we headed up to Denton for a baby shower. Matt (one of my co-workers) and Ashley (one of Tom's co-workers) are having their second baby at the end of next month. We were there for a couple hours talking with everyone and watching them open all their gifts. They have the cutest little girl (she will be 2 in August) and she loved coming over to Tommy to say "Hi" and "baby". Oh, and they are not finding out the sex until the baby comes out, but everyone is thinking boy - so they got a lot of "boy" gifts.

Tommy loved being around all the girls

After church, we met Tim and Tina (our neighbors) in downtown McKinney to try Aparicio's Restaurant & Sports Bar right off the square. Christine and Eddie, my sister-in-law/brother-in-law, sent us the gift certificate last year after we had Tommy and we just now got around to using it. The food and drinks were wonderful. We probably stayed there a couple hours just talking and enjoying the atmosphere. Tommy also  enjoyed it and let us know how much by screaming (excited screaming) periodically. :)

Tommy sure is eyeing his food

Tommy's 1st Easter

We had a great Easter weekend and Tommy must have done something right, because the Easter Bunny left him tons of gifts!

My parents came down on Thursday night so they could hang out with Tommy on Friday while Tom and I worked. I had the day off, but I figured I should go in to get some work done when the offices were quiet - plus I got an extra day of vacation for working. Tom had to work (duh) because it's his busiest time of year. Tommy had a fun day with Grandma and Grandpa and he even got to out of for a walk since the weather was so nice.

Saturday was our errand day. Tom went in to work again and the rest of us went shopping. The sad thing is that most of our stops related to groceries. :( Saturday night, we spent a majority of the night cooking some of the food for our Easter dinner.

Easter Sunday, we got up and finished the food right around 1:00. There were 8 of us that sat down to Easter dinner (my parents, Tom, Tommy, me, my sister, her husband and our Uncle Ricky). Everything turned out great and the 2 desserts we had were a nice send off for everyone (most waddled out of the house - haha).
