Tommy's 1st Hospital Visit

We had to get up bright and early this morning to take Tommy to the McKinney hospital for his tubes. I want to say since he was around 3 or 4 months old he has probably had 7 or 8 ear infections (maybe even more - you kind of lose count after the first few).

After this last ear infection that never went away with 2 different antibiotics - our primary doctor referred us to an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. We met with her last Wednesday and she said that he had infections in both ears and she recommended that we have tubes put in his ears. We trusted her judgement and scheduled the surgery for this morning.

I've been nervous since Wednesday and going in this morning I wanted to cry, but Tommy was such a happy baby this morning (other than a crying fit at 5:30 when he woke up). Considering the fact that he didn't have any food/formula since 8:30 last night he did a great job and didn't fuss one time at the hospital before the surgery.

I'm ready for the tubes..

I got my "brave" face on.

"Better get use to these bars, kid." - haha

They took him back around 7:35 and came to get one of us to go back to the recovery room at 7:45. She said he did great and he woke up crying about a minute after I got in the room. We was able to have some apple juice and then he went right back to sleep until we were released at around 8:45.

Tom and I both took off work today to be with him in case he was fussy, but the good news is that he was in normal self (other than the long naps he took - Tommy isn't usually a long napper). We even had a chance to go out to dinner with our friend Chris, from Pittsburgh, at Kenny's Burgers in Frisco.

We are so proud of our big boy and we hope this surgery prevents him from getting any more ear infections!

  1. Did you ever see such a brave little guy? He thinks he's going for a ride.
