Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun Memorial Day Weekend. We love the long weekends.

Saturday, we ran to Garden Ridge to get some pillows for our new patio furniture. After that, we went to Wales Manor Winery right outside of McKinney. We only did a few tastings though. It was too hot to sit out there and drink a full bottle. Tommy and Grace had fun - and Tommy even made a new friend (a girl of course).

Sunday, I prepared the food (pasta salad, taco dip and cheesecake) for our little get together with our neighbors taking place that evening. Around noon, Tommy and I left the house to hit up the mall and then go to a party at My Gym for one of Tommy's classmates. Tommy had a ton of fun and didn't want to leave.

Someone really liked the ball pit

The neighbors came over around 5:30 and Tom and Tim grilled, while the girls stayed in the house talking and getting the rest of the food ready.

After we ate, we all went out to the patio and the kids played. The weather was really nice (for a change). We stayed out there until the kids bedtime.

Grace Loves to Read

Grace loves taking all the books down and sitting there reading by herself. :) I think she gets that from me.

Oh, and when she doesn't know what something is - she throws it. Great! I think she gets that from her daddy.

First Time to Chuck e Cheese

Last weekend, while I was tabulating scores at the Cheerleader auditions, Tom took the kids to Chuck E Cheese for Charlie's 3rd birthday party.

From the pictures Tom took - it looks like the kids had a lot of fun.

Rio Frio Trip

Two weekends ago, we traveled 6 hours south of Dallas to meet my best friend from college and her family at a little town called Rio Frio (a town right on the Frio River).

We got there Saturday afternoon around 3:00 and managed to get a cabin right next door to Jocelyn and Scott (thanks Jocelyn!). It was a little chilly, but we did go down to the river for a little while after eating lunch.

That night, Scott grilled fajita meat and Jocelyn got the rest of the dinner ready. After putting the kids to bed, we all sat around a fire (that Tom and Scott built).

Sunday morning, Tom made breakfast (eggs in a basket, bacon & toast) and then Scott got some bait and all the boys went fishing. Tommy and Eli were only interested for the first 10 minutes, and then they went back to throwing rocks in the river.

Throwing rocks is definitely more fun.

After naps, we all went down to the river where we did a little tubing and just sat around talking. Tommy was nervous around the fast moving water and the cold factor, but he did enjoy shooting his water gun that daddy got for him.

We prepared dinner that night, ribs and potatoes and after giving the kids baths, we all sat around the fire again.
Two cuties!

We were up early on Monday morning and got on the road around 9:00.

We had a lot of fun hanging out at the river and the time went by so fast. We are looking forward to more family trips in the future.

Mother's Day(s) 2012

Before we went to the river (post to come later), we sort of celebrated Mother's Day here.

On Thursday, the kids (and their awesome daddy) sent me beautiful tulips at work.

Friday, Tom left my surprise sitting on the counter for when I got home. He got me a black watch that I mentioned wanting.

But these are the 2 best gifts ever:
