On Sunday, Tommy started coughing and having a runny/stuffy nose, but no fever. We read about what you can do for babies with colds (which is pretty much nothing except Tylenol). Monday, Tom called and spoke with the nurse and she recommended using saline drops in his nose to break up some of that gunk up there - which helped a little. He seemed like he was getting a little better.
So at our appointment today they weighed him (13 lbs.) and the doctor said that Tommy sounded a little wheezy in his chest. He was concerned that in could be the onset of RSV and develop into a lower respiratory infection. They tested him and it came back negative (thank goodness), but Dr. Reyes thought it would be best if he didn't go to daycare today. Instead, we have to do breathing treatments on the poor little guy every 4 hours this weekend and go back in on Monday to make sure he's getting better. The good thing is that he doesn't mind too much when the mask is on his face and he seems to be a little better after the 3 treatments he's had so far.
Little Man's face when I told him we were going to see the doctor.
He makes the funniest faces! So sorry to hear abut the breathing treatments, but at least he doesn't seem to mind!
ReplyDeleteI just came back to read this to compare how Tommy was doing when he was Eli's age. And at his two month appointment, Eli was also just over 13 pounds!
