My Parents Visit the 'Burgh

My parents came up for their first visit on Thursday night. Tommy said the funniest thing to my dad when we got home (as you can tell from previous posts - he loves boots and other cowboy things), well he told my dad "Grandpa, if you take your boots off - I will wear them." Subtle Tommy! It still makes me smile thinking about him saying that.

Friday, we had a big day. First up, we headed over to Tom's office to say "hi." After that, we headed to Washington, PA for a little outlet mall shopping. That was the only stop on our trip that I didn't get lost. :(

Once we finished up at the outlets (we got a few awesome deals), the plan was to head over to Primanti's for lunch. It was supposed to take about 30 or 40 minutes according to my phone, but with me non-existent knowledge of where things are in Pittsburgh - it ended up taking about an hour. The food was yummy and my parents really liked it so my getting lost wasn't a big deal.

Tommy rode on a helicopter at the outlets

The next stop was the incline. Again - it should have taken about 15 minutes to get there, but it ended up taking me about 45 minutes to get there. I could see it, but couldn't find the streets I needed to get to it. :) We did have fun once we got there, so again the lost thing didn't matter.

They look like a couple of grouches - haha

The only scare was on the way home, I got lost again trying to get out of the city (haha - I definitely need practice) and was extremely low on gas. To make matters worse, it was rush hour and I couldn't find a gas station. I had to call Tom and have him look up where one was. Luckily, there was one really close by and we didn't have to push home.

Saturday, we had Grace's 2nd birthday party - more on this in another post.

Today, everyone minus Tom (he had to work) went to Eat N Park for breakfast before taking my parents to the airport. The good news is that I had no trouble getting to or from the airport. Woo-hoo!

We had a lot of fun with my parents and can't wait to see them again!

Valentine's Double Date at the Winery

This past Saturday, Tom and I celebrated Valentine's Day with our friends, Chris and Megan at Greendance Winery in Sand Hill.

They had a Valentine's Dinner complete with wine tastings and appetizers followed by a five course dinner and dessert.

Our fancy table

Menu for the evening

It was nice to sit down and relax (and of course EAT) for the next 2 1/2 hours. I loved everything except the duck soup. Maybe if I didn't know it was "duck" soup I could have enjoyed it.

Chris and Tom finished off the water in the wine bottles (the lady in the back liked photo bombing our pictures).

Megan and I had fun catching up

I would definitely like to go to another event at the winery.

Afternoon at the Park

On Sunday afternoon, Grammy and I took the kids to the park (Tom met us once he left work). It was a little warmer (in the 40s I think), so we bundled the kids up and headed out.

There are a couple entrances to the park and Tommy chose the one by the lake.

Between throwing snowballs at the frozen lake, playing on the slides, going on the see-saw and walking around part of the lake - the kids had a great time playing.

Grace and Tommy loved the see-saw

Mommy might have enjoyed it too :)

Yo Gabba Gabba

In early January, we took the kids downtown to see Yo Gabba Gabba.

They both loved it. Tommy would stand and dance to the songs from the beginning. Grace was a little more hesitant. She sat in my lap for the first half of the show, but after the intermission - we couldn't keep her in her seat. The only thing the kids asked for from the show was a light up glow stick. We had to get both of them one - and they must have been proud of them, because they were $10 each. Geez!

The show lasted close to an hour and a half and it was actually a cute show.

Vegas 2013

I met Tom out in Vegas over MLK weekend for our annual trip.

Friday night, Tom and I had dinner at The Pub in the Monte Carlo. It was pretty crowded but the food was really good.

Saturday, we got up pretty early, gambled a little bit and then headed over to Mandalay Bay for brunch at Border Grill. Tom and I started playing myVegas on Facebook and he earned enough points to get our brunch for free. It was a buffet brunch, but with small servings that they bring to the table. We liked it enough that we will probably go back the next time we are out in Vegas.

I did have to do a little work...

We pretty much gambled the rest of the day and only stopped to have dinner at NYNY (another reward from myVegas).

Sunday, we did Mon Ami Gabi for breakfast and both partook in the Bloody Mary Bar. Yum! We did a lot of walking after that huge breakfast to burn some calories.

Yum!

That afternoon, we were walking around and found a place to do jell-o shots in the Monte Carlo! We did a couple shots and then headed over to the MGM for some more gambling. We ended up spending most of the evening there and even tried Emeril's restaurant there (it was good).

Jello Shots

Monday, after checking out of our room, we decided to play a little more at the Aria and Tom hit it big on a $1 game. First time that happened on our way out of Vegas. :)

Just a Couple of Kids Hanging Out

Grace and Evelyn had fun hanging out at the beginning of January. Grace would lay on the floor playing with Aunt Christine's camera and Evelyn would come crawl all over her. Grace was a great sport about it (probably because she's used to Tommy wrestling with her).

I love this cutie

Once Evelyn and Christine went back to Tennessee, Grace went back to following Tommy around. She loves her brother so much and enjoys doing exactly what he does. I hope they continue their close relationship as they get older.
