Parents & Autumnfest

A couple weekends ago my parents came up for a visit. They were here from Wednesday night (after a flight delay) until Sunday late morning.

The kids stayed home with them during the day on Thursday and Friday. Tom did come get them on Friday afternoon and dropped them off at Fort Ligonier Days. They had fun looking at the arts and crafts with Tom's parents.

Saturday, we went to 7 Springs for Autumnfest. Other than a foggy/drizzly start - we ended up having a lot of fun looking at the crafts (the girls), sampling beer, running around the hay maze and painting (the kids).

A couple Sundays ago, I took the kids to a birthday party at Statler's Fun Center. Other than the fact that both kids ran around like wild people (it's hard keeping up with both of them when they aren't in a contained area), it was a pretty fun time.

Tommy thoroughly enjoyed doing anything that made him feel like he was driving - go carts, motorcycle, Big Rig and car racing games. Whew!

Hillman Cancer Center Gala

Last night, Tom and I were invited to the Hillman Cancer Center Gala by one of my bosses. The Gala was held at the Consol Energy Center.

We arrived a little after the event started at 5:30 for the cocktail hour. At around 6:30 we headed down to the ice for the presentation and dinner. All the people at our table were really friendly and Tom even exchanged business cards with one of the guys. We did like the performers and the food was pretty good.

Basement Bathroom Remodel

We love having a bathroom in the basement, but what we didn't love was wallpaper and vanity. It was something we could live with, so we put it off for 2 years.

After a few weekends (and week nights), we got all the wallpaper down (from the ceiling too).Once that was done, Tom patched up the wall and painted the ceiling white and walls gray. We went to Lowe's to get a new light fixture, sink & towel rack. I also bought a new shower curtain and rug.

Other than finding a shelf for the wall - this bathroom is done!

Weekend Wrap Up

On Saturday, we went to Ligonier Country Club for the 2nd Annual Fall Fest. This year there were some local breweries (5 to be exact), instead of just wineries. It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect.

Sunday, Tom stayed home watching the Steelers game (and packing for his overnight trip to Harrisburg), while I took the kids to a Super Hero party for one of Tommy's friends. The kids loved playing outside, making masks and hitting the pinata (only Tommy did this).

JCU Weekend

Last weekend (the 6th), we went to Cleveland for a short "college" trip. Tom's college (John Carroll) was playing Saint Vincent (a college close to our house), so we thought it would be a good weekend to head to Cleveland.

We left Saturday morning, drove in the rain and made it there around 11:30. We stopped at one of Tom's old stomping grounds - when he wasn't studying of course - called Pizzazz.

After lunch, we went to the campus bookstore to get some gear. Tommy picked out a bear and a shirt and Grace wanted a little elephant and a book that had nothing to do with the school.

The football game started around 1:00 and we stayed until the middle of halftime. Tom showed us where his house and apartments were and then we went to the hotel to check in. Diana wanted to go to Trader Joe's to stock up on wine (and boy did she ever - hahaha).  We had dinner at Wink's and then stayed at the hotel the rest of the night.
