Washington D.C.
Last weekend, we headed to Washington DC, for a post-tax season mini vacation.
We left late Friday morning, stopped for a quick lunch at MCD and got there a little after 3:00.
The first stop was one of my requests - Georgetown Cupcakes. I love watching DC Cupcakes on TLC and have wanted to go there since I watched the first episode. There were so many choices to make, but Grammy and I decided on the Chocolate Ganache, Tom and Tim got the Cherry Blossom and the kids both got Vanilla2. I also got a Red Velvet (one of their bestsellers) to have the next night. I LOVED them and would definitely want to go back. :)
That night we went to Tortoise & Hare Bar and Grill (http://www.tortoiseandharebar.com/) for dinner. It was something I found online and it had good reviews. The food was yummy and the bar turned out to be a Steelers Bar - how funny!
Saturday morning, after a big breakfast at our hotel, we took the shuttle over to the mall to ride on this open top bus (http://www.dctours.us/?event=offer.detail&offerId=2162) that Grammy found online. It was pretty chilly, but the kids insisted on riding up top - so we had to do that.
We ended up seeing all the important sites and went to the Museum of Natural History for a bit. We also went to another pub for a late lunch (http://www.elephantcastle.com/dc_penn). We ended up getting back to the mall at 6:30. We spent the rest of the night in the hotel, since we were all tired.
Sunday, we had another big breakfast at the hotel, loaded up the car and headed to the National Zoo. We got there a little after it opened and it wasn't too crowded at first. The kids got to see all the animals they wanted and we let them ride the carousel before we left.
On the way home we stopped at this cute little tavern in Bedford, PA for dinner (http://www.jeanbonnettavern.com/).
It was a fun, jam-packed weekend.

Sports!
Last Wednesday, the four of us, Grammy, Pap-Pap and Dave (a friend of Tom's) went to PNC Park for a game.
It was the first time the kids got to see a game at this stadium - we even got in some tailgating before the game.
The game wasn't very crowded, we had great seats and the weather was perfect. Some of us took a little break around the 7th inning and took the kids over to the little playground in the stadium (Tommy even got a little batting practice in).
The next night, we took Tommy to hist very 1st soccer practice. He was a little nervous at first, but then he ended up seeing Jeremy, a friend from school, and he perked right up.
Since we are in the Little Tots class, parent participation is required. Tom and I took turns doing "drills" with Tommy. In between these drills, Tommy would randomly find where Jeremy was and say "Hi Jeremy," like he didn't just say hi to him. It was so funny. Tommy (and I think Tom) had a lot of fun at practice and I think we might have a little soccer player on our hands. :)

Quality Time with the Kiddos
The whole family has been spending a lot of time together since Tom gets to leave work at a normal time again. Yea!
On Sunday, April 14th, we took the kids to get a haircut and then I was supposed to get a shopping day. About an hour into my shopping, I get a call from Tom telling me to meet him at Med Express. Apparently Tommy was running into the house and tripped and hit his cheek on the concrete step leading from our garage to the house. I think he's taking the chicks dig scars a little too far. Thankfully, it was superficial and they only had to glue it - no stitches.
On the actual tax deadline day - we went to eat at Primanti's and then took the kids for ice cream at Dairy Queen.
The day after the deadline, I treated Tom to a massage at Splendore Med Spa (I treated myself to a facial since it was Spa Week and the facial I wanted was almost half off).
Tom picked me up after our facial and drove us to Murrysville so the kids and I could hang out with our friend Megan and her kids. Tom had to give a talk at a local place with Megan's husband, Chris about tax stuff. :)
