Weekend With the TX Grandparents

On Friday night, we headed up to North Texas to spend the weekend with my parents.

Saturday, Tom went to play golf and the rest of us went shopping. Our main goal was to find a pair of cowboy boots for Tommy. This was his reward for doing an awesome job potty training.

I know I haven't really talked about it much on the blog, but it has been fairly easy on our part. Other than the first 2 days, Tommy hasn't really had any accidents during the day. We are still using Pull Ups at night, but half of the time they are dry in the morning. After he got over his fear of pooping in the potty, he has done great with that too. He does like to look at a magazine while he is going though. We usually flip through an US Weekly or In Touch and he points out the color of the girls dresses. :) If daddy happens to be sitting with him, he makes Tommy look at a Golf Magazine (boring).

Anyway, we found a nice pair of boots at Cavender's and of course while we were there he ended up talking Grandma and Grandpa into getting him a cowboy hat and a western shirt. It's so funny - he's on a Back to the Future III kick and he loves reenacting some of the scenes with us.

Howdy Pardner!

Of course since that was our first stop, he ended up wearing his boot and hat (with shorts - haha) to every store we went to. He did get a lot of compliments from women though - so maybe he's onto something.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out at my parents' house (other than when my mom and I snuck away to do a little shopping by ourselves).

Sunday, my dad made a ton of food and we celebrated Tom, Kimberly and my birthday with a Ice Cream Cake from Dairy Queen.

We had to leave right after lunch so we could make it back in time for Tommy to attend a birthday party for one of his friends. It was at this art place. I think Tommy had a good time. They got to paint a banner and make their own treasure chest. Tommy chose to paint his in pink and purple (and blue and orange). What!?!
